Abstract:
More over half of India’s workforce is employed in agriculture, which also contributes more than one-fifth of
the nation’s GDP. Nonetheless, the business is still beset by basic problems including inadequate infrastructure, small and scattered holdings, and limited finance availability. This research investigates the agricultural credit ecosystem in the Gajapati district of Odisha by looking at the availability, use, and recovery of institutional loans by farmers. This descriptive study design made use of information from 110 farmers and 11 banks spread over the Gosani, Gumma, and Rayagada regions. Analytical methods like such as frequency distributions, percentages, and chi-square tests served as a reference for the interpretation. The result indicate a comparatively high level of formal credit knowledge, which has been influenced by programs such as the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) and the Kisan Credit Card (KCC). Increased inclusion is nonetheless hampered by procedural complexity, insufficient financial literacy, and unequal access. For increased efficiency, this study suggests using digital platforms, improving financial education, and streamlining credit procedures. For an agricultural credit ecosystem in Odisha to be sustainably profitable, gender-responsive and climate-resilient funding must be actively promoted.
